Over the last decade, The Oakville Academy for the Arts has revolutionized the delivery of age appropriate programs in the Greater Toronto Area.
The Academy provides a choice from over sixty classes a week that are specifically designed for children Six years and younger. The commitment to providing the best opportunity in terms of Faculty, Facility, and diversity in programming has led to the largest student body of this age group in the Toronto area. The Academy’s focus on providing an exceptional experience for little ones has been embraced by the community and the most liberal refund policy allows children to explore the arts without financial risk to parents.
The Oakville Academy recognizes that the Faculty is a key element in a rewarding learning experience. The Academy has focused on selecting University educated Teachers who have excelled in their disciplines and have the technical expertise for instruction. Their exceptional energy, enthusiasm, professionalism and proven success with children differentiate them from others in their fields. Our teachers are committed to offering quality instruction with an emphasis on ensuring student enjoyment. These classes are educational, fun, interactive, creatively taught and have a warm atmosphere with our 1 Instructor to 8 student ratio. Teachers at The Academy choose the age groups they wish to work with, their skills best suited to and those they are most passionate about, guaranteeing a fulfilling experience for all students.
Year End Recitals: Our programs conclude with a “Year End Celebration” to mark the exceptional learning and progress of our students in their performance art. Our youngest dancers (Pre Dance 2 1/2 to 3 years of age) perform in the Oakville Academy Theatre on our professional stage in a show celebrating not only their first time in a formal performance setting, but the developmental accomplishments of their year. This is followed by an in-house tea party.
Our Six and Younger dancers have a unique Junior Recital in a small, safe and local theatre generating special memories for both child and parents. The show is approximately one hour in length and perfect for their attention span and provides an exceptional way for our young dancers to share their accomplishments with a warm and intimate audience. This contributes to these first formal recitals being a positive and self-confidence building experiences.
Our Fine Arts Students culminate with a Juried Art Show where family and friends can view and enjoy your child’s works of art while nibbling on cheese and crackers. This show is visually astounding and our little artists are very proud to display their personal pieces of creativity.
Our Musical Theatre Students conclude the year with their own unique performances and shows that are approximately an hour in length in our theatre with state of the art lighting and sound.
